I was selected as the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Preston Constituency in November 2008. Preston is England's newest City having been granted City Status in 2002. Preston (originally Priest Town) received its Guild Merchant Charter in 1179, Guild celebrations are held every 20 years with the next due in 2012. Preston was a leading boom town of the industrial revolution, its industry concentrated mainly round textiles (Sir Richard Arkwright was a son of the town) and many of the City's most beautiful and striking buildings date from this time. Preston is also the proud home of Preston North End Football team (Sir Tom Finney is another son of the town) and the National Football Museum. The Preston Constituency covers the wards of Ribbleton, Fishwick, St Matthews, St Georges, Deepdale, Moor Park, Tulketh, University, Brookfield, Ashton, Larches, Ingol, Riversway and Town Centre. I am both honoured and proud to have been selected to represent Preston. It is a wonderful city with many open, green spaces, elegant squares, stunning buildings, a vibrant, friendly atmosphere and truly inspirational people working to improve the lives of their neighbours. You can read more about the people I have met with on this website together with some background on me, my political beliefs and the work done by Conservatives in Preston. You will also find details of how you can become involved in helping our campaign for me to become the next Preston MP. | 07958583185
